Project 365 Day #17: Support

In AVID today, I was aimlessly looking around the classroom and I seen the Quest for Success poster. I doubted my mother has written on it or anything, however, she did! The night of the induction, I was surprised she had even stayed. When I seen her message today, I was real hyped. I like the love and support.

Project 365 Day #16: No School Day

Today we didn't have school. I needed a day off! However, I had some school work that needed to be done. Being in the house all day with my brothers, playing video games, was distracting. So I had another adventure with Morin. We watched movies and got something to eat, then got to work. She had been studying for the SAT's on Saturday, while I did my homework. A fun and productive day, I guess.

Project 365 Day #15: Them Spartans!

I temporarily live across the street from Milford Mill Academy. Almost a couple days every week, I hear their band practicing and I enjoy listening! I be so eager to play, so me and my brother had to go out there. The director had let us try out right then and there. I been to competitons, parades, and marched many of times but this was my first field show experience. It was fun and we was keeping up. Milford's band is nice! I can imagine this is somewhat what the college experience is going to be like.

Project 365 Day #14: Houses Scoreboard

The House of Hyperion is no where in the race, mainly because of me and Maurice. We each lost 100 points and I'm not understanding why because I got the e-mail sent by Dona and submitted my URL, but she didn't receive it. How is that my fault? Also, we weren't the only house who had that conflict and they didn't lose points! Just trying to argue my case.

Project 365 Day #13: Someone Special

Jasmine Kerr. She is truly someone special to me and someone I will always care about. Intelligent, funny, humble, and the most creative person you can possibly know! She dances, writes poetry, and IS photography. Jasmine is the type of person who is ambitious and has dreams. There is always something she wants to do. For my Common App Essay, I'm writing about her, someone as of influence to me. We've been through a lot of moral experiences, which affected me, and she was always the one to really encourage me.

Project 365 Day #11: Brand New Homie

This year, I'm starting to get to know Morin. Now that we have classes together we just been chilling. Its Saturday night and we was suppose to be going to the movies, but it has been a change of plans when she got off work late. Instead, she just picked me up and we was driving around that night, visiting other friends and everything. I got a new friend that can drive and she lives down the street from me (lol).

Project 365 Day #10: Music Genius

Jahquille Hooper, a music genius! I can say, he is really going to be something one day in the music industry because he has real talent. A percussionist and music producer, going to Full Sail University. He is very skilled  and serious about what he does. Tonight we was randomly producing a beat, TOUGH!

Project 365 Day #9: AVID Induction

This year's AVID Induction was the best by far! The theme of the houses is real cool. All of the juniors and underclassmen were so excited to find out about which house they were placed in; I been hearing comments all day. I was dressed to impress in orange (which I bought today), proudly representing the House of Hyperion. I wish I had a roll in the ceremony, especially the house speaker because it was a lot I wanted to introduce about my house. The night was fun, and me and my mother really enjoyed it (first AVID Induction she been too).

Project 365 Day #8: Hyperion Preparations

Today in AVID, we had to prepare for the Induction ceremony...the next day! Team Hyperion had to start from scratch and we just had so many ideas to put on our tri-fold, but just not enough time. It was one of the first creative cooperating activities so there was some ideas that clashed and some we agreed on. Despite the situation, we got the job done!

Project 365 Day #5: Rodney's Crib

Over the summer, we had to move in with my mother's boyfriend, Mr. Rodney. He's cool, especially since he let our family move in. Life been too nice here! I have a room, got cable (all the channels you could think of!), internet access, my mother cooks now (lol), and a PlayStation 3. However, you can't live with someone else and not repay the favor. I respect him, do chores around the house and everything. I'm posting this because I mowed the lawn today. Gotta EARN your KEEP!

Project 365 Day #4: New Look

I got my haircut and I trucks (no profanity) with it! Instead of my same ol' fade, I got a temp. I'm letting my hair grow, trying something new. When you mature or something in your life has changed, a new look makes you feel different (in a good way). I'm a new nigga! Had to add one of those in there.

Project 365 Day #3: Random Post

I got the new Nike Pro Dark Pine Foamposites, the day they came out (last Friday)! They tough, I like em'! Now I'm questioning myself why did I spend $201.40 on them though because now I'm broke. I don't even be going to work frequently anymore, but I get paid today! This check will be going in my bank account because I need to start saving money for priorities and not wants. I'm calling my job too so I can get my bread up. Let's go!

Project 365 Day #2: Socratic Seminar

Today we had a Socratic Seminar on the book, A Hope in the Unseen. It was my first experience of the activity and I was unaware of the task. We was suppose to read and write questions about chapters 1 through 3, then during class discuss it within a group as the class watches. Me, being a procrastinator, didn't even read the book. So, I was unprepared for the activity and didn't participate, but I would like to next time.

Project 365 Day #1: AVID Induction ID

Khalid Jones has been in AVID since the beginning of his high school career at New Town, the 9th grade. Khalid really has a passion for music. He is a percussionist and has been apart of New Town's very own Titan Drum Line. Outside of school, he participated with other groups such as N' Full Motion and The Marching Elite. Khalid wants to attend a HBCU, where he will have the full college marching band experience. Some of his top school choices are Howard University, Norfolk State, North Carolina A & T, South Carolina State, and Clark Atlanta University. Hoping to attend one of these schools, he plans to study music education/theory or information technology as his major. With the support of his AVID family, Khalid has pushed himself academically and broken out of his shell to become successful.
